The Sodus Art Bank artist's studios are located on three floors of the old Gaylord State Bank, built around 1895.  A great fire roared through Sodus in 1907, turning building after building into ashes until it was finally extinguised at this very same historic site.  Today you can still see a few of the charred rafters in the Painting Studio.

Eventually, The Great Depression put the Gaylord State Bank out of business and after serving various small businesses over the next several years, it finally became The Sodus Art Bank in 1990.
